    My uncle

So a little back story, my father moved us out to california after my mother passed. All my family lives back in indiana where i was raised, and every time we visit my grandma talks about how she loves the henry golden boy. Their 60th anniversary is coming up in june so my dad and i decided to buy her a golden boy with custom engraved side plates.

We got into touch with my uncle to buy the rifle out there and we would order the plates and bring them with us. Today my dad called me and said, "uncle terry called and i can't tell what the **** he is talking about, he is gonna call you in 5 minutes." I play with my daughter for a few minutes waiting for the the call.

The phone rings and i answer, we have casual small talk then he says, " so i went to go buy the rifle, and all the had was a full auto golden boy." At this point i think to myself "what the ****" well he continues on about how you hold the lever down and its full auto. I asked him if he meant a semi auto, think the clerk mistaked it for a henry semi auto 22 (if they even make one). He goes on saying no its full auto for about ten minutes.

I finally tell him i will go online and get you a model number or sku number, thats when he starts to laugh and says "your way quicker than your dad, i had him going on a full auto lever action for ten minutes before he figured out i was full of it. He said to call you and see how long i could get you going on this. The rifle is order i will have it here in two days."

So i thanked him for making me feel like a retard for ten minutes on a friday and thanked him for getting the rifle.

Ahhh family. I could never figure out god's way with things. My father is kinda an A hole but his family is absolutely fantastic. My mom was a saint but her family were a PITA. It just made no sense how mom and dad turned out the way they did...complete opposites from the rest of their family. All part of God's plan, I'm sure.

                    Cool story brah.

Be glad you have a cool uncle. I have one each on my mother and fathers side. One is a former junkie POS and the other is probably the biggest A-hole I have EVER met in my life and I've met some doozies.

You caught him quick, but by God at least he tried!

And, you know, not fer nuthin:

Since 1959 the venerable AR-7 has been the choice of U.S. Air Force pilots who need a small-caliber rifle they can count on should they have to punch out over a remote area. Through the years the AR-7's reputation for portability, ease of operation and reliability has carried over to the civilian world. Today it's

Kinda ironic, cuz the various older incarnations of the AR-7 were famous for occasionally going full-auto on their own accord, and Henry was the manufacturer that solved the problem.

Yeah, back when I was in the retail firearms business, a guy comes into the shop wanting to buy a "semi-auto bolt action" rifle---just like his buddie's. I showed him some rifles, but he just could not grasp the mechanical differences between a semi-auto and a manually operated bolt rifle---tough sell...
