I bought som 223 at the last on they had and only had to show my ID.

I've made the mistake of buying ammo in Sacramento recently. Kind of a pain, they do require photo ID, log the CDL info & ammo bought - sign here & thumbprint IIRC. A fairly new law, if the CalExpo hall is physically in Sac I'd expect they have to do the same.

CalExpo actually is within the city limits. My guess is that the ID law for ammo purchases is in effect, unless for some reason, the State of California owns the land and because of that, the City would have no jurisdiction over that parcel... I'm really not entirely sure, so if you're going to buy ammo there, just be prepared to give your ID.

I'm no laywer, nor have I researched the status of the CalExpo lands as it applies to the City of Sacramento ordinances.
