Hi guys,
I have a Beretta 92FS. Currently I would be using standard FMJ 115 grain rounds to defend my home if I had to. Clearly this is not ideal. The reason I have this ammo is because its what I use at the range.
I was thinking of picking up some rounds that are meant for home defense. But I am not sure the legality of them? Hollow point etc...
I live in Orange County (Southern California).
Is there a good guide to picking home defense ammo? What about legality?
Clearly FMJ 115 grain is better than nothing, but would that even stop someone?
Also related to home defense... whats a good time from sleep to gun in hand? I did a few mock runs and I dont know if I can get it to anywhere less than 15-20 seconds without compromising safety (loaded and unlocked gun). In most houses thats probably not too bad of a time frame, but we live in a single story house with french doors in the living room (basically glass walls). If a perp runs he can reach the bedroom in 5-10 seconds.. if they walk trying to stay quiet (dunno how theyll manage that on an all wood floor though), then it can be 30+ seconds. But again thats if they are heading straight for the bedroom with sole goal of reaching us, and ignoring other rooms.
Anyhow.. thanks for any feedback!
