    Anthony Bourdain on guns...

May be a dupe, but a darn good read. Don't know how many watch his show but I caught this episode and was surprised by it:

I may be a New York lefty—with all the experiences, prejudices and attitudes that one would expect to come along with that, but I do NOT believe that we will reduce gun violence—or reach any kind of consensus—by shrieking at each other. Gun owners—the vast majority of them I have met—are NOT idiots. They are NOT psychos. They are not even necessarily Republican (New Mexico, by the way, is a Blue state). They are not hicks, right wing “nuts” or necessarily violent by nature. And if “we” have any hope of ever changing anything in this country in the cause of reason—and the safety of our children—we should stop talking about a significant part of our population as if they were lesser, stupider or crazier than we are.

            Interesting dude

He's a lefty that, by nature of his job, was thrust into a segment of the population he'd been trained to fear. Found out gun owners aren't the baby eating, virgin raping knuckle dragging Neandertals the other side paints us to be. It's people like him that ought to be our biggest ally.
I have all the time in the world for his show and like Andrew Zimmern as well.

Every chef I know loves knives and loves guns. I've run into several celebrity chefs at gun stores. I've been in the restaurant/bar/night life industry for a long time, and I can safely say that most people are freedom oriented. They might not be socially conservative usually pro gay marriage, legal pot etc etc. But most despise gov involvement in the economy, hating min wage laws, hating break laws, and are very aware of taxes. Most work two jobs and hate lazy people, and view entitlement programs like tip pooling...just allowing others to profit from your efforts.

Think it's an industry that supports 2A but might not always be the best individuals to use as exemplary gun owners, including Anthony Bourdain who has admitted to trying a ton of drugs.

That just explains why it is the duty of each and every gun owner to take newbs shooting and convert as many as possible.

Anthony Bourdain is a open minded guy, unlike so many other left wingers.

I love his shows, always have. No I will watch them with more respect for him.
