Long story short...have some scuff marks on my Glock 19 slide, right on the top, in front of the rear sight. They are deep enough to see some small silver, meaning it went deep enough to go through the blued protective layer. Has anyone ever used Birchwood Casey Perma Blue? Would a few coats of this actually work? Appreciate your feedback!

Stuff works great. Will turn the metal dark instantly. Multiple coats shouldn't be needed. One hint . . . don't redip your applicator in Perma Blue. Use a fresh one everytime you use it. It will keep the unused portion in good shape.
BTW, your Glock is not blued. -

Luckily for you, Glocks use two layers of protection. Tennifer is the base treatment, and actually changes the properties of the steel. The black finish sits on top of the Tennifer, and isn't vital to protecting the metal. I wouldn't stress too much about showing a bit of "bare" steel, because you're just rubbing off the black. It happens all the time if you do holster work, and really isn't anything to worry about.
If the scuffs are deep enough to actually feel, you might want to consider sending the slide back to Glock. My friend used skateboard tape on his frame, and after practicing with his holster several hundred times, enough of the grit got into his holster that it was removing metal. That's bad.Comment
