The guy apparently made some advances to her so she shows her rifle and he still comes at her. So she responds in kind.

No mention of his threatening behavior, the knife or the fact that he assaulted her.

How about "Woman Defends Self with Rifle After Attack by Knife-Wielding Assailant"?

Purely judging by the way he took that odd step towards her, something was definitely up. She wasn't being threatening at all visibly - maybe verbally, but certainly not by body language. He on the other hand - clearly behaving VERY strangely.

Good for her - radar went up FAST, and she defended herself. She's lucky that first shot was a punch, and not the knife.

I'd say that "stand your ground" came into effect just about the time he cornered her against her car, and despite the fact that she pulled the rifle, he punched her in the face. Heck, I bet that even in CA, given that situation, you might have a justified killing.

Apparently, didn't even drive off to the nearest police station ...... had to trace her by her licence #.

Not sure what the laws are regarding leaving the scene like that, and taking a photo/video of your dying assailant raises some concern. Otherwise, looks like justified self-defense to me.
