so i've been cleaning my stuff recently. mostly ARs and my glock. for each one I cleaned, I used slipstream styx. a colleague of mine recommended it also. although it's like a $18 little expensive bottle, supposedly a little goes a long way. for ex., i'll use maybe 8 drops total on the charging handle - 2 on each side, 2 on the diagonally shaped sides, left and right. i do the same for the recommended lube areas for the BCG and where i normally would put lube on the glock.
so the weird thing.... i cycle the action by hand and i don't slam the bolt forward, i.e. releasing it at the very back area. i cycle maybe 8-12 times. then i sniff what smells like burnt smell. just a little mind you. then i see a whiff of smoke too. just a whiff
i called crusader and i feel like i'm stupid calling because i can picture the guy on the other end of the line thinking wtf mate! you smoking something and maybe that's the burnt smell? LOL (i don't smoke).
now if it only happened on 1 AR, i wouldn't be concerned. but it was consistent on all ARs i cleaned and my glock. i asked if there might be some kind of reaction as the "high tech" lube and it's nano particles (etc etc) penetrates the metal. he said no such reaction. i did clean the area where the GCG goes and the charging handle using mpro solvent too. i asked if it's a reaction to mpro solvent. guy says he's not heard of such or any smoke/burnt smell.
anyone else experience similar with this lube? i tested the glock the other day and it seemed fine. i don't' usually run my ARs wet but i do put enough and as recommended by the expensive lube.
