Just thought some of you would like to know.

I was at Big 5 today and saw that they do PPTs for only $10, pretty good deal, most of the other places I ask charge more than that.

It is $35.00 total not $10.00 and the price is fixed by law so it is not a good deal or a bad deal.

ALL PPT's are 35 total (25 for DROS and 10 for the dealer to keep). As the previous poster mentioned, that is fixed by law.

They can only charge their own fee for out of state or intrastate transfers which are not PPT's. (this is where the gun is shipped to them).

Also, it is possible for a dealer to charge a "storage fee" for holding your gun if it is past the 10 days. Never personally seen this, but someone has mentioned it before.

Actually a dealer an charge whatever they want. The cannot misrepresent what they are charging for. They cannot tell you that your paying a 50 ppt fee. It would have to be a 35 dollar PPT and a 15 dollar storage fee or a 15 dollar just cus I was on my period fee... as long as its spelled out in an honest fashion.

The down side to charging wierd fees is you are turning off two customers at the same time. It a golden oppertunity to treat them both well...

I've sold LOTS of guns to guys I met doing their PPT.
