    I got into the bad habit of not oiling my guns since I only owned Glocks for a while. Now that I have 1911's and some long guns, I have to wipe them down usually twice a month to keep my brain from thinking they're melting away.

            Same here, though not for decades. The socks are more to prevent handling damage going into & out of the safe.

            I'll be doing an inspection & wipedown tomorrow though. A couple haven't been to the range in quite awhile. An oily wipedown will do no harm.
