Money is the best and most painful teacher. Sounds like the gray zone to me. You didn't ask and the shop didn't tell you about layaway. Their shop, their rules at the end of the day. I would only consign a gun as a last resort. When you think about what is now happening to you, plus the fees would it not have been better to put it up for sale on the boards here where YOU have control over the physical gun and the price?

I can not think of one good reason to consign a firearm. The shop is not going to split the fees with you IMO. Next time list it here at a fair price and save yourself the 20% or whatever they charged
