So wonders of wonders. . . I finally get to CCW again Tuesday! This past two years, Ive been feeling mighty naked without my trust G19 on my hip.
For the back story, I was stationed out here in Wisconsin almost 2 years ago for the Army, this was one of the last states not to have any type of CCW law on the books. The voters had voted for CCW 3 years in a row under the old governorship, only to have the governor Doyle veto the bill, then have it affirmed by one vote each time. Well, under Gov Walker, he immediately put ccw on the books and it was voted in pretty quick. He signed it into law, and the law finally goes into effect Nov 1st! Cant wait! In the interm, Ive been teaching CCW classes as an instructor and having a great time! The only sad part I think to the law, is I dont think we will get alot of other states to offer reciprocity. Mainly because, of the acceptable standards for qualification for ccw training, is Hunters Safety by the DNR. As a DNR HS Instructor, we dont even go over any type of handguns in our training curriculum. Plus it doesnt cover any type of legalities of CCW. Wisconsin has already accepted 25 states CCW's and 2 Territories, (USVI & Puerto Rico) but I dont think they will get many to accept their training acceptance standards. Good thing I still have my California & Utah CCW's with my California ID!
Ah well, just thought I would share! Time to break out the old Galco and get my CCW shirts out of the closet!
