Went to the range today. 100 rounds double action as single shots (one shot, decock, sight & shoot again) at 35 feet. 2 hands in a "Weaver" stance. No "warmup" rounds.
79 in the black (4" circle). 6 in the X ring.
Missed 80% by ONE LOUSEY ROUND! (which was on the line). Several flyers but it could be me anticipating recoil (most likely) and pushing the muzzle down and left. I noticed that I also start jerking the trigger that last little bit before letoff when I get tired at about round # 6 in the 10 round string and the down/left tendency starts to show up a lot more often.
Better than single hand only but I still need more practice. Especially on trigger control/smoothness and not losing the sight picture at the last instant. I think I'm unconsciously switching from the front sight to the hammer to see how close I am to firing and can't switch back before the hammer falls. When I concentrate ONLY on the front sight, I don't have the down/left problem nor do I lose the sight picture.
3-P's I guess.
