Mobile AK flat bending services in socal up for offer. new price list/breakdown.

Alrighty, in the desire to get as many AK's and AK pistols into CA as quickly and as cheaply as possible, I am going to be offering a mobile AK flat bending service.

    *EDIT*

    Price list breakdown

Here is a updated and itemized price list.

$20 for the first flat, use and instruction on the tools

    $16 per each additional flat

$5 for heat treating(goes to new mapp gas can, salt, and dish soap)

    $140 for a demilled Romy G kit

$100 to cut and turn a pistol kit from a parts kit

$20 for a rivet set, along with pressing in the barrel and riveting the trunions.

$0.15 a mile driven to and from

It will cost $20 to bend yourself a flat, that includes a 1mm enhanced flat and use and instruction of the bending jig and press. I have stamps to stamp the make, model, pistol, serial, and anything else you'd like to put on the receiver. I can also do heat treating on the spot for an extra $5 or so, but it is the most time consuming part of the bend.

I will drive within 50 miles of cerritos to do this, but will have to charge $0.15 a mile for gas.

So even if you are 50 miles away your only looking at $27.50 total, but any more will be accepted to further fund this endeavor so that i can actually keep more flats in hand, and pay for a few more tools that are needed to actually complete the flats, like a spot welder.

While i'm only going to get a maximum of $5 for my time from the flat, my main concern is bringing these into the the state, there will be strength in numbers. I Hope i can actually get enough interest in this so that i can pickup that spot welder, and at that point I will also be offering to finish the receivers completely on the spot including the heat treat and welding of the rails.

PM me if you are interested, I may also be able to supply a Romy G kit turned and cut down to pistol lenth, custom lengths to order, but payment would have to be in advance for the kit, or you can supply your own kit and i can cut and turn everything to make it a custom length. chances are it will be around $200-250 to do including a kit and a G2 trigger group + other parts that need to be bought and machine time for me.

PM me with any inquiries, we can set up a time and place and you can bend yourself a flat. I will also trade a flat and service for parts kits, i love to build things, but can hardly ever afford to buy anything.

Even if you decided to build youself a AK pistol including a kit done by me and a receiver you bent on my jig, you will have only spent $300 or so, which is cheap enough for most people to have an AK pistol that want one.

What an awesome offer. I'm definitely interested.

What about finding a few Calgunners in a given locale and having a bending party? I have no idea of how much time would be involved for each, but would be a nice way to meet people and knock out a few of these.

send me a PM, if you want to do multiple flats i can do a discount on quantity, but like mentioned on the first post i'm hardly making anything, and well any of the earnings from this will go to better tools for making the flats.

I also may be persuaded to trade a Romy G kit for a spot welder if someone had one they'd be willing to trade, I had planned to do a pistol for myself and have just been screwing the rails in instead of welding, it works the same but has an extra screw. I'd be willing to trade the kit for one, and i could probably make it a pistol kit first if need be.

Another thing im planning to do is to start making receiver benders that incorporate a hydraulic press into the bender so all you'd have to do is add a bottle jack and you'd have a compact bender.

I'm not doing this to make cash, its only to get as many of these into the state as possible, thats why im trying to make AK pistol receivers available to anyone that wants them. The 50 mile driving radius isnt set in stone, so if you really would like one i'd be willing to go farther. And for anyone that would rather come to me you can do that too.

To date i've bent only one receiver for myself, and helped/instruced 8 receivers for other calguns members, Ajax being one of those.

It usually takes less than an hour if you are heat treating, and can be bent in less than 30 minutes if you arent heat treating. You pretty much take the stamps, and stamp in the markings you wish to have, then bolt it into the bender and press it in, and pull it out, and your done with the bending. for the heat treating you'd just take a mapp gas torch and heat the holes, then quench it in water, after that you reheat to a lower temperature and let air cool. All in all very easy and I will go over it all in depth as it progresses.

If ajax cares to chime in, he can tell you as he had his first bend on friday if I did a decent job at going over it, and how easy it is.

As for build parties, yes it can be organized, like i said the main objective of this offer is to get as many of these as possible, and to do that i figured it would be easiest to just take the service to those that desire it, making it available to those who dont have the space for the tools or dont wish to purchase everything needed to make them. Either way around $25 for a complete AK receiver cant be beat unless you have a press and bender yourself, which would increase the cost per unit anyway as you'd have to make up for the cost of tools. I dont plan on organizing any parties myself, but if someone would like to organize one i'd bring the bender, press and everything else needed to make them work, could get a small assembly line setup going stamping, pressing, then heat treating, i have two sets of stamps, and two mapp gas torches, but only one press and bender which would slow things down, but then again the heat treating is the longest part, stamping the second, and the actual pressing only takes 5 minutes at most. so we could probably get a few of these turned out fairly quickly.

I think it would be awesome if we could do a Build party like they do in other states, down here in Southern California. I'd buy a few kits for something like that. I'd also be interested in doing other more involved guns, like Cetme's or G3's. Anyone game? I'm in OC, but would drive to L.A. or anywhere in the So Cal area.

Grammatron, would you be down for this?

I hope everything works out on yours 69mach1, I hope i was helpful enough and made it easy enough for you, it was nice meeting up with you.

I'd actually be interested in doing quite a few other builds, including 1911 80% frames and AR-15 80% as well. Right now the only limitation is my tooling funds, If i had enough cash to buy everything to do every kind of gun i would, but im on a very limited fun budget so I'm very limited on to what i can do so far. I plan to buy a mill soon so i can do the 1911 frames, and already have a AR drill jig that i could probably use for those interested in those, but i dont quite have all of the bits required for the AR jig yet, i slowly buy tools to do these things as i can afford them but that goes slowly.

I'd like to thank ajax for helping me out on tooling as well, without him this wouldn't be possible as he was the one that got the bender.

I'd love to get a bending party organized and take some pictures of people pressing out their receivers, and put a nice big caption on them saying "freedom of the press", i just figured it would make a great poster for us fighting to make the CA AW law a moot point.

Like Sal said, he laid it all out and walked me through how to do the bending, it was quick and easy (well maybe not quick... but we were having fun)

I'm glad that the bender is going to good use, And I'd be more than happy to put My AR drill Jig up for communal use as well.

I'll even buy a small drill press for the project if I can find one at a good price (once I've got some more gun money)

I think currently I need to get one more drill jig (for the small hole) one pistol grip tap, and an assortment of bits (along with a 1 1/8 inch reamer.) before we can do this with AR pistols, but we are close... so close...

Thanks again to Sal for making this possible, his coordinating, figuring out the little tricks on how to make it work etc. saved me a TON of screwing up and trial and error and My pistol receiver looks great and mounts right up to standard trunnions.. I cant wait to build her.

Thanks Ajax, If we can generate enough interest in building these we could possibly get a fund pool going to get communal use tools for these build projects.

We already have the AK bender and the AR drill jig ready to go, but like Ajax said we still need drill bits for the AR jig, and we still need the spot welder for the AK's.

Our goal is to have as many of these people build these as we can get, the AK's are really the most cost efficient ones to build, the AR 80% usually run close to what stripped lowers cost, but you can actually do a pistol one, plus you wont have to pay transfer or DROS on them. Once i get stuff like the threading die i could also offer a pistol conversion service to convert the romy G kits into a pistol kit, but until i have the funding set aside to buy the tooling i wont be able to thread the barrels yet.

Would a cheap stick welder work? something like this http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...170&lpage=none or rather something like this?

the second one is the type thats needed, the stick welders wont work.

AND WOW! lots of PM's coming in, looks like i gotta get more flats real quick, i've only got three right now, but i can more soon pretty quick.
