Weird question, I know
I think this can pertain to many rifles, not just bolt-action but it seems like everyone has to bench rest their rifles to shoot. I enjoy doing that at my outdoor range but was kind of bummed when after a few hours, I suggested to my cousin that we try to see how accurate we are at 50 yards while standing for fun but about 5-8 rounds in we were told to sit by someone that worked there. Planning on getting a bolt-action rifle next but was just curious as to why I hardly see anyone standing while shooting them?

Haha I dunno what it was, some kind of rifle etiquette or something that I had missed but I just don't want to bench rest all the time. I'd like to see how well I'd shoot with only my body as support. I'll have to ask the guy at the counter next time I go to that outdoor range. Aside from guy's shooting AR's, all I would see were bench resters so thought I'd ask.
