OC Indoor Shooting Range Pro Shop in Brea. I shoot there quite often and find their prices to be very good. Their service and attitude are even better.
    714-529-0300 is the phone #.

I have to disagree about the attitudes of the sales staff at Fowler's and the Stockade. While they are definitely not cheap, I've never detected anything short of very fine customer service from both establishments. In fact, one of the reasons I shop at those stores is because of the friendly atmosphere.

        RIflegear and Turner's in Orange.

Riflegear - I went in once to ask questions since it was my first time getting into AR15. Very helpful and knowledgeable even though I didn't buy anything. I ended buying a stripped lower from them and everything went smoothly. It was priced competitively too.

Turner's in Orange - The people there have always been friendly and helpful. Prices aren't bad. I've been to other Turner's like Pasadena and Redondo Beach and their service was horrible, so I can see why some people dislike Turner's.

I thank you for the replies,

              Just a few comments:
Used to like the turner's (orange) back in the good ole days. Now it feels like your at big 5 - just more guns... (to me)

I like fowlers for gun fondleing. However, they lost my wife. She went in deciding between aimpoint and eotech. Questioned the sales guy about the reticle looking pixleated and was unsatisfied with "Thats just the way they are"... Picked up a new CR123 batt and went back. Asked if she could put it in to see if it cleaned up any. Was denied She won't be back

I will get around to all that have been listed.
              Been to:
              riflegear
              'firing line'
Used to like B&B, and alittle place on state college near CSUF.

We compete with other online businesses so I'm not really following the argument that our prices are needlessly high. I always felt we sell quality products at fair prices - and we take care of all the CA-legal hoops one would normally have to jump through with many out of state vendors. Thanks for the feedback though, I will take it as constructive criticism

                  Ade's, Ade's, Ade's.

                  I like Riflegear too.

OC Armory off the 5 in Laguna Hills.

You won't go wrong with any of these.

Just don't ask Fowler's anything about out of state transfers, I made that mistake once and the guy damn near chewed my ear bloody over the phone. The price was ridiculous too (~$200 IIRC). I don't do a lot of those, but I'll never go back because of how rudely I was treated.

I notice many say your service is top notch theres no denying that but few say your prices are great. If you can get whatever you choose to charge, all power to you.

It's easy to verify pricing anyways so if people are not willing to visit other shops and shop around then it's their fault or their business if they want to pay more for whatever reasons. I like bargains but even I have a limit where if the customer service sucks I don't care how cheap your stuff is I'd rather pay more.

Anyways the op asked for a shop with a good variety and people keep mentioning small black rifle and AK oriented shops for some reason. How many handguns are in those shops as an example usually,10? Do they sell reloading gear either?

The Fowlers/Stockade chain has been in business MANY years so even with the sky high pricing they must be doing something right.

Are you basing this on price, inventory, customer service or ?

It seems people are listing their personal favorites not the type of store the OP was looking for. They all have their place but AR oriented shops are not the greatest to see a variety of guns and a wide inventory of different items.
