    private party transfer??

    I have a friend and his father lives in florida. Can his father transfer off listed pistol to his son?

    Hes looking to get the xd m 45acp. I assume that he will have to have a 10rd mag. I was trying to look for the link that explains the rules about PPT. If you can put the link on here I will email him the rules for PPT. Thanks.

    Yes as the Safe Gun List only applies to firearms sold to a buyer from an FFL. A PPT is only brokered through the FFL. The gun, however, must still be legal to own in California. The only twist to this transaction would be that your friend's father would have to fly to California with the gun and personally appear with your friend to do the PPT as, by definition, a PPT is done in person with buyer and seller both present during the transaction!

      No need for the father to fly to CA.

      Search for "intrafamilial transfers" and "intrafamily transfers" on Calguns. Lots of discussion about this before.

      edit: Read this and you'll be good: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=227944

      Note that this will not be a PPT, it will be an Intrafamilial Transfer.

        A PPT, as implemented in the DROS software, allows only 2 CA residents to participate.

        See the wiki articles on interstate transfer, intrafamily transfer, and PPT.

          So, intra family transfer, the father doesn't have to be present. Basically he will send the gun to a FFL dealer, wait 10 days and sign some paper work (the son)?

            Yes. Call/visit the CA FFL before shipping - for most of them, this is all a bit obscure and they might not understand interstate-intrafamilial-exempt-from-roster. Some FFLs also want to receive the gun from another FFL, as a business practice.
