What Density Foam for Gun Case?

I've read through all the related threads I can find on this but am not seeing the answer. I have some 1.1lb density foam from FoambyMail that is clearly NOT dense enough but I'm wondering if their next step up, 1.6lb density, will be similar to what comes with a Pelican case.

Anybody know or have some ideas on this?

I believe mine's 1.8lbs. Works perfectly.
