What's the limit on transporting ammo?

I'll be moving back east real soon and up the northeast gauntlet. Anyone know of restrictions on amounts of ammo that can be transported or the best means to do it? I'm quite familiar with gun laws in NJ,
NY, MA. I'll probably be using a rental truck for the move. The objective is to get through with the least amount of hassle.
Informed opinions would be most appreciated.

I dunno but if you have a couple of bricks of .22LR, the media will say that you had thousands of rounds of ammunition in your vehicle.
While we're here arguing about the latest high tech running shoes, there's some Kenyan out there running barefoot. Guess who's gonna win the marathon?

carry it safely and as much as the rental truck can carry. (afaik, there is no laws on carrying ammo across state lines especially for personal use)

As much as you can fit in the car.
BTW, this is not legal advice.
