    Left handed shooter ???

I don't know if I am in the right section but I am having some problems with my pistol. I shoot a rifle left handed and my left eye is dominant but I am right handed by nature and I handle a pistol with my right hand. By trying to look across my body it seems that I am shooting consistently low and I don't really know how to correct my problem. I try to shoot with my left hand and it feels unnatural. I know this is a stupid question but I am looking for some advice on how to correct this problem and increase my accuracy.

My daughter has the exact same issue with cross eye dominance and shoots rifle left handed and pistols left handed. She shoots expert with rifles and pistols though.

Have you checked that the pistol doesn't just shoot low no matter what hand you use? Different people shoot the same sight settings to different points of impact. It is more unusual to have two people share the same zero with open sights.

A friend of mine shot it at the same target and he said it was dead on his point of aim at 25 yards. You said your daughter has the same issue with being right handed while being left eye dominant but she just adapted and shoots both rifles and pistols with her left hand? I have tried but it feels unnatural to shoot pistols left handed so I was hoping that there might be something else I could try and do

I'm right handed, left eye dominant. I've learn to shoot left handed to accommodate my super dominant left eye. However for pistols, you can grip it right handed and shift the pistol a tad more to your left side and see if that helps get you better sight picture with your left eye being dominant.

I write with my right and shoot with my left hand. But can also shoot with my right hand....... I'm confused.

Lol, Since I am into practical shooting we must be able to shoot with weak hand.

some times i use my right hand and work the mouse with my left hand, just to spice things up a bit

I'm right handed but left eye dominant.

When I first started shooting my pistol I had a hard time being accurate at about 10 to 12 yards shooting with my right hand. I tried various methods of using my right eye and left eye while using my right hand but finally decided to start shooting left-handed.

After getting used to the different grip with holding the pistol left-handed (I suck at doing anything left handed) I was making great improvements in my accuracy.

I'd suggest using a 22.LR pistol for getting used to holding a pistol in your "weak" hand. .22 is cheap so you can shoot a few hundred rounds without worrying about costing a ton of money.

My problem exactly. What I do when shooting handguns is cant the gun a tad to the right and use my left eye. I also shoot using a three point stance with my right side a bit more forward than usual.

I shoot pistols and rifles right-handed, yet I am left-eye dominant. For my rifle I just use my right eye. My stance for pistol is aggressive isosceles, so I just very slightly move the gun left to line up with my dominant eye.

as long as the sights are lined up properly and youre exercising proper trigger control your shots will land where the sights are pointed.

most likely you are flinching and thus dropping the shot. If you start shooting a .22 or mixing in dummy rounds your issue will go away.

But to the fix the cross eye issue, either use glasses with the appropriate side taped up while shooting or close an eye.

                      Either that or switch hands.
