for the price it seems too good to be true, or it just sounds crappy.

I have it. I've never used it in anger, mind you. I bought it at the Costa Mesa Gun show for that exact price, and it now sits loaded with mags in my closet in case SHTF and I need to throw it on.

It's really well built and doesn't feel cheap at all. Fits well. Holds all that it says it does in the spec sheet.

I'm satisfied, but then again, I've never been within ten feet of a "real" tac vest as worn by a SWAT guy or soldier.

I have one and really like it. It's well made, very comfortable and breathes well when I go to the desert (not too hot.) I added a shotgun scabbard to it as well, so I can carry all 3-guns on me (a little "mall ninja" but pretty fun for messing around.) Like the poster above me mentioned - this sits loaded up in my closet for a grab and go situation...

There are a couple different brands of these vests. I got the one for airsoft, (the 49$ one) it was good for a while but began to show it's drawbacks when I wanted to load my vest up with all of my mags at once. Limited space, and limited places to put radios, small items you don't want flying out when you're running around. Just my opinion though. On the good side, it was very breathable.

I personally enjoy building my MOLLE vests.

well the fact that it is an airsoft brand makes me hesitate buying it.

Pantac makes some extremely durable vests. I'd trust one holding up under real-world conditions. Also remember, that most people who wear airsoft gear probably see more action and dirt than those who don't play.

UTG, as was mentioned, is an Airsoft brand. The material is most likely 600 denier nylon or worse. The stiching on these vest are hit and miss. If it's going to see regular use you may want to consider alterntives.

Pantac and Flyye are better replica brands however their prices are not always better than the real items they copy.

SKDTac sells a custom version of the Eagle Universal chest rig for about 75 bucks. I use it in "rigorous Airsoft" (all day and night games) and it holds up well.

The "tac vest" concept is slowly going away because modular gear (MOLLE/PALS) gives you a lot more flexibility to customize your gear to your needs. Also if you want a little more breatheability you can run a chest rig which leaves most of your upper body uncovered.
