    DWX Thoughts & Revised Pricing

When the DWX finally showed up (outside CA of course), I thought cool pew pew. I like 1911's and I like CZ's. Combine them both and it might be a winner.

Then I saw the CA "premium" pricing the first DWX's we "commanding"...over $5k. Ridiculous for a pew pew that retails for $1,999 I thought. Plus...and older design from 2019 that the cough delayed for years and the market mindset had shifted to everything new must have an RDS plate/cut from the factory.

Then the DWX Compact showed up. I thought that was the one for me. Now I just have to sit it out a bit and wait for them the show up in CA. Same "CA premium" all over again, with these initially in the $4k range. Uh...no, not happening.

So I posted a WTB and set my limit @ $2,500. A few commented that I wouldn't be able to touch the DWX Compact for under $4k. Yeah, wishful thinking on seller's behalf me thinks.

Neither full size or compact DWX has taken the market by storm. More like a drizzle actually IMO. No RDS cut seemed to be a deal breaker and paying $300+ for milling a plate cut and then having the slide refinished was more expense on an overly expensive pew pew.

Seeing what these are selling for outside CA has me rethinking my pricing strategy. I checked this morning and GB has a DWX Compact with a Buy It Now price of $1,550...nearly $500 below MSRP. Once the RDS versions of the DWX's land in 2024, I think the floor will drop on these non-RDS versions. Even CA pricing is on a significant/steady decline.

Considering the last PM I received for a DWX Compact was $3,100 I think my original $2,500 "limit" is now too high. I think I will revise my DWX Compact budget to ~$2k and just sit on the sidelines until that's a reality. After all, time is on my side and the market has cooled quite a bit on these models. At the end of the day, this is a commodity pew pew. Nothing really special, just not on the CA roster and I'm tired of the "CA premium" mentality.
