CA legal options for KSG and Sub2000

    Hello all,

Moving to CA soon, and trying to size up my options when I get there.

    1. KSG: It seems that these are fine in terms of barrel length/OAL and mag capacity, since they're technically 2 tubes with a manual switch? So no KSG is off the table for CA ownership?

    2. Sub2k: Does anyone know of an accessory that will make the mag non-removable, so that we don't have to use the lame grip fin? Or is the grip fin (found out today that KT makes a kit too) the only way to make CA legal?

    Thanks all!

The Kel-Tec KSG is CA legal from the factory.

The only Kel-Tec KSG variant that is not CA legal is the KSG Tactical due to it being a Title 2 SBS.

Currently there is no commercially available device/parts that can make the SUB2000 have a CA legal fixed magazine.
^The current method of making it have a CA legal fixed magazine is to permanently attach (epoxy/rivet) a 10 round magazine into the grip.

Kel-Tec makes/sells their own parts to make the SUB2000 a CA legal "featureless" semi-auto centerfire rifle.

Is the KSG-25 CA legal? I thought with 12-round tubes it was a no-go.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

Since the fixed tubular magazines require a manual action to feed from one magazine to another, they are considered seperate ammunition feeding devices.

Magazine capacity on a tubular magazine is determined by using the manufacturer's designated caliber markings.

The Kel-Tec KSG-25 is marked for 3" shells, so 3" shells are used to determine capacity.
Using 3" shells, the tubular magazine on a KSG-25 has a capacity of 10 rounds.
        Total capacity = 10 + 10 + 1.

Standard KSG is good to go. They have them in stock at Sportsman Warehouse.
          I just pick up a KS7.

Thanks, Quiet, for the info on both. I thought the KSG was not CA legal due to the pistol grip, but good to know that it is.

On the Sub2k, I had thought I'd seen a kit that makes it fixed mag enough, but I couldn't find it again and I may be just incorrect. I did see KT's own fin kit. I've never shot with one, but I like the Sub2k a lot so I may just have to learn to live with a fin.

Yeah, this is great. One less gun I have to worry about buying/modding before I move to CA.
