    Help I.D. Magazine.

    Hello All.
Before I place this magazine on the WTG (to LEOS/exempts only), I would like to identify and confirm this magazine.

Here are the information that I know of as it is a 20+ year old Mag.

    The info I know of.

    1. It was with other M9/92FS mags when acquired.
    2. It was acquired while I was in service, so more chance to be for M9/92FS I guess.
    3. It is a 15 round magazine.
    4. Here is the tricky part. The mag base plate at the bottom is marked S & W on top and 9mm on bottom. As far as fitting, the matching of bluing etc., it is original to the magazine I think.

Once I have the majority of info. I will place on the on-going WTG ad for Leos and Exempts/Licensed.

Thank you all for any info.

That "&" looks f`ed up. Looks like a Chinese copy.

              OP

That is a genuine factory S&W model 59, 9mm 14 rd magazine (body & floor plate) IMHO.

I own 2 of them. I’m holding them in my hand. I acquired them in the late 70’s / early 80’s. BTW…the model 59 was manufactured between 1971 and 1982.

The finish, witness holes, follower and floor plate look exactly like mine.

Ref the 15 rd capacity you mention in your post. When filled with 14 rds, the 1st loaded rd is clearly visible in the bottom witness hole on the right side of the mag. On one of my mags, I’m able to “force” a 15th rd into the mag but its very difficult. On my other mag, it will only load with 14 rds period. These mags were designed for and should only be used with 14rds.

Ref the member’s comment about the “&” on the floor plate. That “&” is commonly referred to as a ampersand. There were several variations of the ampersand used in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The one shown on the floor plate of the OP’s mag (just like mine) is called a “lazy or “pregnant” ampersand. There were also “upright” and “reverse E” ampersands used by the S&W factory during these years. It was commonly seen on barrels, frames and floor plates.

              I hope this information helps.
