    80% Poly ?

    I have a FDE 80% Poly AR15.

Are these still legal to sale/Buy in California?

Currently, "80%" polymer reciever/frame are still CA legal to advertise for sale and transfer in CA.
      ^This changes on 07-01-2024.

Starting 07-01-2018, self-made firearms made from an "80%" non-metal receiver must have CA DOJ issued serial numbers engraved on 3.7oz of 17-4 PH stainless steel that is embedded in the receiver in such a manner that removal will destory or significantly damage the receiver.
^No commerically available "80%" polymer receiver/frame meets this requirement.

Starting 01-01-2019, it is illegal to transfer ownership of a non-exempt self-made firearm.

      Therefore...

If your "80% Poly AR15" is still an "80%" receiver, then it is still legal to sell/buy it in CA until 06-30-2024.

If you made your "80% Poly AR15" into a functional receiver and it was self-marked and voluntarily registered with CA DOJ before 07-01-2018, then it is legal to transfer in CA, as long as it is configured as a CA legal firearm.

If you made your "80% Poly AR15" into a functional receiver and it was not voluntarily registered with CA DOJ before 07-01-2018, then it is an illegal self-made firearm that is subject to confiscation in CA.

If you made your "80% Poly AR15" into a functional receiver after 06-30-2018, then it is an illegal self-made firearm that is subject to confiscation in CA.
