CFARS - How to Update Address After Submission

Hello,

I registered a home built rifle with a user created serial number. I finally received a notice that this is being processed. However, I have since moved since submittal and I'm afraid documentation will be sent to the wrong address. Anyone know how to best proceed?

Call the DOJ and explain your issue to the operator and they will help you. IIRc the number to call is in CFARS somewhere. I know someone who was in this exact situation and it was resolved this way. They got their letter and all is good.

How about letting it all go through and get approved. Then in a month request a copy of it to your new mailing address.

Changing it now may require submitting new proof.

Because the status in CFARS never changes, only way you know it's approved is when the letter arrives.

So, you are saying even after its approved it still shows in progress if you check online?

Yes. Don't of anyone who's status has changed to "completed" or similar.

I had this exact issue happen with me. They somehow still found where I lived because the approval letters showed up address to my new house even though the letters themselves had my old address. It did not have those yellow forwarded labels on them.
