    1) OP asked a question, so needs a real answer.

    2) You all know that you are implying or outright advising that the OP avoid or disobey the law - that's a violation of terms of membership, and last warning to you 3.

    3) Robots scan Calguns; it's not less frequent than 20 minutes, and probably more often - anything posted here can be in an investigator's inbox in less than hour. That is 'pretend you never posted this' will not work for an interested LE agent.

    Transfer by inheritance, inside California, requires a CA FFL except if the parties are related as immediate family (grandparent/parent/child, no brothers or cousins or nephews).

    Whoever passed the gun to Dad must take it to a CA FFL and do a 'Private Party Transfer' to him. Dad will wait 10 days and do all the paperwork.

    Lots of missing info. Was it by bequest? Was it just given as its not intrafamilial transfer from brother to brother. Probably no big deal. What state? You are hiding your location so tough to help.
