Guns locked inside the trunk of a car, regardless of stickers, the hat he wears or parked outside a gun store and followed home is NOT irresponsible NOR is it a "lapse of cautiousness". Now I personally do not have big ole stickers that say "3 Gun Nation" or "NRA" etc. on my car, but I do not consider it a bad thing if someone else does. I certainly do not take it as an indicator of inviting theft or thier property, or as a "lapse" of anything.

I am going to say that a few years ago (ok, it was like 20 years ago, but still..) I had a pistol, my PSE Bow, and a pair of rifles along with some other stuff stolen out of my small SUV. There was nothing to indicate the presence of any of the above in the truck, other than the obvious fact it was a truck in Tennessee. The cops who took the report and the detective that investigated told me it was about the 10th auto break-in in my area for the month and they felt sure it was probably just kids or druggies looking to score a stereo or whatever to pawn and they got lucky. They also took every tool in the truck.
Relax. Everyone here is different. My SOP is if I have a gun in the car, I go from point A to point B. No side stops. If I have an extra passenger, they can get out of the car and do what they need to do (get food, pee) but I wait in the car. I don't feel safe with guns in the car even if they are locked in the trunk.

Lol, his guns cost more than my car.

If he has a single gun related/NRA/gun range sticker on his car it was his fault for advertising he has guns.

This is Calguns It's not the criminals fault. It was the OP's fault.

See where I'm going with this? It's how all of these threads devolve once details are given.

You omitted one possibility: "If they were not secured in any way & were just hidden somewhere" that constitutes irresponsible storage & it would be his fault.

I will keep a look out on the gun ads here in Florida. Stolen guns can move cross country pretty fast.
