    Costa mesa gun show disater

so I went to the gun show last week and from my experience I want to say what happened. I remember going last year, it was full of decent surplus with seller willing to barter on fairly priced gun and items. This time it was the opposite everything was overpriced I tried to barter on some bayonets and the sellers would not go down not even a dollar. I went to 4 different sellers with the same bayonet and they wouldn't budge. Apart of that the mill surplus was gone and everyone packed early. I understand some people are trying to make a profit by pricing everything 50-75% more than retail is observed. I know you shouldn't go to gun shows looking for deals but why open a booth if at the end of the day you just pack it all up with no sales?

Sadly I agree with you. It truly is turning into a show - just to look.

I went to the Ontario show last year and after seeing $40 spray painted steel mags and ammo at .10 over even box store rates I have no further interest in attending. I remember the cross roads show back in the day, taking up 5 or 6 buildings, vendors everywhere, deals everywhere. Guys walking around with rifles for sale on their backs, PD/SD showing off new cool gear etc. No more, sadly no more.

If you don't like it, you don't have to buy!

Gun shows suck unless you're just going for the entertainment.

Were they willing to bargain on the beef jerky?

I went to crossroads in Ontario two or three months ago, and I swear everything from magazines, ammo, and firearms were more expensive. I usually go to check out new things and browse, but there were even things I needed that I decided to pass on cause spending more didn't make any sense.

I also purchased only reloading components... I had a few other thing in mind but prices were in fact inflated and kinda left thinking that I can probably find somewhere else to spend my $17 admission fee, 2 wheels means I park up front with no parking fee...

22lr cheaper, but useless to me since I don't have a 22. I go for components and self defense ammo. Everything else is either crazy expensive, or knock off garbage. Seeing a lot of tables with the later now.

Gun shows in CA. An exercise in futility.

When all the old farts like me are dead and gone, guns shows will be a thing of the past in California, the millennials are smarter and shop online for their firearm needs and supplies.
