they also got kickbacks for reaching certain quotas or levels of vaccination for adults (saw the forms similar to above).

I've had to learn to tell my 'doctor' (more often a nurse practitioner these days) that I'm the 'decider,' not them, in terms of increased strength medications. They take my blood pressure once every 3 months and if they don't like the reading they start talking about stronger meds. I got fed up and finally told the one that the medication they've got me on already knocks me down to 90/60 (which is the lowest I've actually measured at home, but have my suspicions it's been pushed a little lower) for part of the day, which tends to put me back to bed for a couple of hours. So, no. I'm not taking anything 'stronger' and since I'm taking my BP in a relaxed situation on a daily basis, I think I have a better handle on what my 'norm' is than a single reading taken every 3 months in a doctor's office where I'm anticipating being told to do things I don't like or agree with. Its not just vaccines. A coworker with diabetes the last few months has gotten serious about helping himself, loosing weight, watching the diet, keeping his blood sugar numbers in check well so he messaged his doctor to request an A1C test. The doctor replied he would not untill the next yearly physical because if it was over 7.1 he would be penalized. Further inquary revealed that Dr's are judged on how well they manage patients numbers, such as A1C. He didn't want to risk loosing a bonus.
I've always suspected it has to do with their funding and, unfortunately, I can't go back to my old doctor. Not only is he not listed with my current insurance, he's now in his 80's and I'm not sure how 'active' (or with it) he still is.
The doctor that came with the new insurance and I had come to a basic 'understanding' about meds and procedures. It's too bad she retired and I'm now having to go through the whole 'education' thing again with these 'kids' as most of the two doctors and all the nurse practitioners at this practice are 'younger' and tend to suffer from the "Dr. = god" complex. I give them credit for 'listening;' but, it does get tiresome to always have to be 'on guard' when it comes to having meds and procedures constantly pushed at you by your own facility.
I'd like to return to the era of doctors I had as a kid and young adult. The one could tell you what the problem was by watching you walk through the door or so it seemed. The other worked with you, even if you were a kid, and your circumstances.
It goes back to what my Grandfather warned me about; i.e., that the doctors will treat you by putting you in a chair and keeping you there with their medications. He went backpacking well into his 70's and that was after two heart attacks and a couple of bypass surgeries. He made it to 92. Thus, I'm 'suspicious' of any prescribed medications due to that and my own experiences.
Hey. It was that 'suspiciousness' which caused me to hesitate in relation to the COVID vaccine and there were, personal costs, involved in not being vaccinated that I won't go into. But, in retrospect and as things have played out, I'll continue to take me chances.Comment
