Is Ebola a 'known' and 'accepted' disease vs. COVID being deemed by many here as "the flu" and, therefore, thumbing your nose at established health protocols is permissible with COVID but not permissible with Ebola? Or... Is this simply a 'different era,' seven years later, where Government (that's both Republicans and Democrats) have gone 'off the edge' and looking to go full Nazi/CCP/Soviet with concentration camps for half the U.S. population that disagrees with them? Remember, the electorate was roughly evenly divided in 2020 between Trump and Biden; not to mention that only 62% of American adults and the vast majority of children (i.e., half or more of the U.S. population) currently remains unvaccinated.

I'm not saying the concern regarding potentialities is 'wrong.' In fact, I think there are a lot of nefarious potentialities in not only this bill, but many other laws. However, if we divorce ourselves from conspiracy theories/politics and look at it from strictly a 'public health' perspective, how is this different from what they tried to do to many with Ebola and other infectious diseases?

The sheer numbers that would potentially be involved? I'll buy that. Given the number of vaccinated in New York is just slightly under the national average, given that the number of registered Democrats in New York is 50.6% of the total voters, given that the narrative from Fauci, et al. is that Republicans represent the vast majority of the 'unvaccinated,' and given their power-grabbing agenda, I could be persuaded that SOME of this is politically motivated and, thus, a potential problem in the context of how it will ultimately be used.

Unfortunately, you're going to have to 'make your case' as to how this is inconsistent with Federal (CDC) quarantine guidelines...

I think you'd be more 'on target' by noting Cuomo's declaration of 'gun violence' as a public health crisis ('emergency') and how the following passage might be used in that context...

10 suspected case, contact or carrier of a contagious disease that, in the
11 opinion of the governor, after consultation with the commissioner, may

15 local health departments, may order the removal and/or detention of such

In short, I think this provides Government (Democrats in this case) another tool for coercion. But, if it is actually used, I have my doubts that 'selective use' is going to stand scrutiny on a large scale and the sheer numbers involved allude to the idea that Government, particularly a State government, doesn't have the resources for anything but 'selective enforcement.'

I just got off the phone.

For now it's not camps. It is hotels under guard. Somebody I know, who lives in NYC, is being forced leave his home and report for quarantine. He is young, vaxed, and has very mild symptoms. IF he does not leave his apartment for forced into quarantine and he will be arrested and forced.

I strongly suggest that involving the government for mild symptoms is not a good idea. You can get a 15-min test at the drug store yourself.
