Benelli Nova options for adding accessories

I have a nova (rifle sights 18")

Mine is set up pretty much as you describe

It has a clamp on bright (don't know lumens), remote pressure switch lamp

It has a 6 shell (IIRC) nylon buttstock shell holder

It has a cheapy picatinny rail that is side mounted. On it is an old vintage Millet Red Dot (not the one pictured) that works very well and has been on there for hundreds of rounds. It is nice that it is low enough for a good cheek weld.

That said, neither the RDS or rail are necessary.
They are on there, haven't bothered to take them back off, but they do add weight and the RDS doesn't really offer much gain over a good night sight setup.
But I am lazy, so they remain.

I wouldn't bother with a Forward grip, they are kind of clumsy to use to cycle the action and there is a recent story of one breaking off and the guy shooting his hand during the mishap.
Furthermore, the Nova has a nice feature that allows you to cycle the action without chambering. This allows you to take any round in the chamber out by cycling the action without chambering a new round.
A foregrip would likely get in the way of that button.
Unchambering a round enhances safety of yourself and others around you when when climbing fences, or obstacles where you may fall. Chambered rounds on dropped shotguns can be bad and it is good form to de-chamber a shottie when these situations arise.
I also have one of those bazillion round shell holder/sling setups with some mike's QD quiet sling mounts so the sling can go on if humping somewhere, or it can just clip to itself like a bandolier.

Basically ready for any mall disaster.

I really like this shotty for a cheapy.
I also have a 870 that is lighter and shorter, but it doesn't do the 3 1/2" shells and the Benelli has another 2 shots capacity at 2 3/4" shells.

Seems to me an "executive" of an Armored Transport company would already have a very good grasp of the weapons requirements of the job and not need to ask on here for pointers.

So you are an LEO? Since when do they allow for personal (and personalized) shotguns?

If you are a rent-a-cop I didn't know they conducted breaching ops as a matter of course.

Since it requires both hands to work a shotgun (unlike a pistol where weak hand hold of a flashlight works) I think one of the fore end mounted lights could be a valid option to avoid a possible friendly fire incident.

Shell holder = Good idea but you aren't going to get a 7 round one on the Nova as it will interfere with the fore end when racking the action. I think a 3 round holder is all that will fit. I would suggest a butt cuff (usually hold 5 or 6 rounds) if you want more on weapon shell storage.

Forward pistol grip = I personally (YMMV) see no need for one. Since you aren't conducting breaching operations.

Sling = I would buy one in case you ever have to use shotgun to guard your property during some type of incident but wouldn't leave it on the shotgun as it can get hung up during a HD situation.

2 round extension and a side saddle. That's all.

Your not gonna haul this heavy shotgun around all day, so I would say no sling.

A forward pistol grip handle that attaches to the pump action .

A shot extension , like +2 or + 3 .

A light around 500 lumens .

A sling .

A shell holder , like around 7 shells .


Any thoughts on this ?
