Well maybe I shouldn't say issue, as I was trying to use it for something it wasn't intended for.
I had this thread on my 870 Super Magnum. Where the magazine tube follower got jammed and I couldn't put any shells in the gun.
My "solution" was to buy a Scattergun Tech. standard length follower and spring.
As you see above, the follower has an end on it that the spring goes over.
When duck hunting you are limited to 3 rounds and have a "plug" in your magazine tube. With a gun that takes 3.5" shells you also need to be cautious about being able to fit four 2 3/4" shells/
I filed groves in the follower so it wound clear the tube indents, then slowly cut the green "nub" down, trying to fit two 3.5" shells into the magazine tube.
With Remington's standard plug, this is impossible. I could fit a 3.5" and a 3", but even cut down flush, you can't fit two 3.5" shells.
I debated about cutting the plug down, but doing so would mean that if I couldn't get this to work, I wouldn't be able to use the OEM follower either.
It's nice to have a S.S. spring (for the rain) and a sturdy follower. If only they made a plug for this kit.
If any other hunters stumble across this thread, this is basically just a heads up.
