SoCal Shotgun/Skeet Clinics - ON-HOLD Until Further Notice

All clinic information (except for available dates) can be found on the "SoCal Shotgun/Skeet Clinics Information Page" sticky at the top of the shotgun forum. That sticky includes ALL information you will need EXCEPT currently scheduled clinic dates and sign up.

THIS sticky contains all clinics currently scheduled, and lists those presently confirmed to attend the respective clinics.

The ONLY way to register for a clinic is to send me a PM (trapperjohn) http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/member.php?u=163155 with your name(first and last), screen name, cell phone number, requested clinic date, and how many attendees will be in your group. The cost is $30 per person.

To avoid the possibility of cancellation, a minimum registration of six shooters will need to be met for each clinic, at least five days before the scheduled clinic date. This is to enable proper planning and staffing. If six shooters are not registered for any given clinic, the clinic MAY be cancelled. if so, those registered will be notified via PM within two days of the scheduled clinic date.

It is important to understand that "No shows" for a clinic are VERY HIGHLY, GINORMOUSLY, DOUBLE ANGRY FACE, FROWNED UPON!! The SoCal Shotgun/Skeet clinic team generously provide their time and expertise for the benefit of new shooters and the shotgun sports.

When a shooter signs up for, but fails to come to the clinic, it potentially denies a spot at that clinic for someone that may have really wanted to come, except that clinic was full. NOT COOL. Please be as considerate of others as you would like them to be of you - if you sign up, COME SHOOT!

What to know when you come to the clinic:

The clinic starts when Triple B Clays opens at 8:00am (except the rare weekday clinics, which start at 10:00am), and will typically go 3-4 hours. It is important that you arrive at least 15 minutes early so everyone can get sorted out before the Pro Shop opens. If you do not have your own gun, please plan on renting one from the Triple B Clays Pro Shop.

If you have never shot at triple B Clays before, you will also need to get to the Pro Shop right when they open and sign the waiver form. Tell them you are with the Don Ziegler clinic and they will not require you to fill out a portion of the form relating to safety rules, as the clinic will cover those. If you have shot at the club within the past year, you do not need to sign a new waiver.

While you're at the pro shop, purchase two rounds of Skeet targets, and any ammo you need to use in the gun you will be using (if you don't bring your own), and you'll be set.

Don't forget eye and ear protection, as explained in the clinic stickies.

Be sure to ask Captain Dick to explain what a proper fitting gun should feel like to you.

Thank you very much for your interest, support, and understanding! We look forward to seeing you on the field!

Unless anyone else has info, Rosemead is closed between San Gabriel and the 60 because of a possible shooting last night. Looks like the range isn't accessible any other way?

Don Ziegler's book is usually available at the end of each clinic. There is so much thrown at you during the clinic your mind is ready to explode. You can then review the steps at your leisure and be prepared for the next clinic if you so choose to attend. The cost for the book is $20 and a steal when combined with the clinic.

The book has illustrations or photos on nearly every one of the 42 pages. Here is a preview.

Thanks for the post of Coach Don's book! It is indeed chock full of great information.

If anyone is unsure of attending because they have never even touched a gun - don't be! The clinics are the best way to dip your toes in the water - fun, informative, safe, with NO intimidation whatsoever.

                  Come have a blast!!

Clinics on 7/11 and 8/1 would be a great way to get nearly private shotgun/skeet instruction!

Clinics that are not at capacity are the best! - lots of instruction and lots of trigger time!

Come take advantage of these less crowded clinics!

The weather is cooler this week! Perfect for getting out and learning something new...like safe shotgun shooting and clay target destruction!

The 7/11 clinic is just waiting for someone that wants to learn shotgun shooting, or just have a couple of excellent coaches help work on proper form and mechannics.

Come enjoy the weather and a unique sport all at the same time!

While this is true, you would be best served going to the 8/1 clinic
I need all the trigger time I can get... So, don't go to the 7/11 clinic...LOL...
