77-22 ?

just acquired 2 ruger rifles, a 10/22 and a 77-22. the 77 does not have the modell # on the action where it should be (left side of action). it just has ruger and then the ruger insignia stamped where mdl# should be. the saftey warning is on the top of the barrell along with ruger address, and at the chamber end of the barrell .22lr cal is rolled on. any explanation as to why this is ? thanx...Bill
