Looking for Ruger Single Six info

    Hi Calgunners,

I am looking for information on the single six so I can determine what year I specifically need to look for. My Dad had given me one years ago, my first handgun. The gun was stolen a few years ago and I would like to replace it with one of similar vintage.

To the best of my knowledge, my gun was produced in the mid to late 60's to possibly the early 80's some time. I have been able to pick out a few key features that may help to date it. First, the front sight is a simple single blade non adjustable design. There was no hump under the sight blade like there is now. The rear sight was similarly simple but if I remember correctly it was not adjustable either. The cylinder was interchangeable like today, .22 WM & .22 LR, the barrel was marked " .22 Buntline" if I remember correctly.

Any info is appreciated, I would really like to replace this.
