I would guess the Lower receiver is still marked 5.56 And has no gas tube installed in it..Do not need that of course for the blowback .22
So I guess it is true that in its current configuration it cannot fire nothing but .22 LR
But add those two parts and it is likely just what it started life as..
CA legal..I have no idea..
Yes that is what I do..I buy CMMG or RTB bolt and a dedicated barrel and put it together..Much better way to go.. -
Under CA laws...
Make/Model banned assault weapons: [PC 30510(a)(5),(d),(e),(f) and 11 CCR 5495(a), 5499(a)]
(make) Colt (model) AR-15
(make) Colt (model) Law Enforcement
(make) Colt (model) Match Target
(make) Colt (model) Sporter
Nothing can be done to cause a make/model banned assault weapon to be CA legal.
Not make/model banned and can be made CA legal:
(make) Colt (model) M4 Carbine
These can be made CA legal as a featureless semi-auto centerfire rifle, as a semi-auto centerfire rifle with a fixed 10 round magazine, as a manually operated centerfire rifle, or as a rimfire rifle.
The firearm in the linked ad is for a non-make/model banned firearm that is a semi-auto rimfire rifle, which is CA legal.
AFAIK...
The drop in .22LR conversion kits were originally designed for a US Military contract for inexpensive training in limited environments (<25 yard indoor range within a city) and only required the kits to meet a minimum of 4 MOA accuracy using the 5.56 barrel.Last edited by Quiet; 07-12-2024, 3:00 PM.sigpic
