pic#1 you see the notch right on the top of the "R"? that what keeping the crosshair straight.
pic#2 is the bottom of the scope and the notch.
pic#4 is the scope on a rifle.

    any suggestions is greatlyapreciated.
    I have a Ruger 10/22 Carbine . i just bought the new BSA Sweet 22 3-9x40.
I currently have a weaver 3-9x40 weaver scope (discontinue model) on the rifle with the Leupold scope base.

Having problem putting in the Newer BSA Sweet 22 3-9x40 scope on there because of the little notch on the bottom of the scope.

    Weaver 22 Quad-Lock See-Thru Scope Rings.
Weaver 10/22 Base Pair is what i found at our local walmart.

will this work on my ruger 10 22 carbine?

    any suggestions is great apreciated.

I have never used any bsa sweet scope before, and have never seen whatever that black nub is supposed to be. If it is supposed to be for crosshair alignment im guessing it doesnt set the hairs level when it bumps up against the mount? If this is the case, either go up one ring height or file it off. I am sure someone has used a sweet series scope and can chime in. The walmart rings and bases will also work on your carbine, and since the base is two piece on the wal mart unit, it may allow the nub on the scope to clear.

The mount you have is not going to work with low rings and that "thingy" on the bottom of the BSA. I would just grind it off if that is the height I wanted. Its a BSA it isn't in the quality league of the mount. Grind on the cheap low quality thing first, in this case the scope. Or just get a new rail for the rifle they are cheap.
My question is, why are you exchanging a Weaver 3X9 for a BSA 3X9 this seems like a backwards move to me.

And also get the proper tools to mount the scope. Brownell's has them. Or, take it to your local gunsmith and for a reasonable fee they can do it the correct way for you. If you do not have the tools and "you think" that you can do it yourself, go right ahead. But, if you do not have the rings properly aligned when you tighten down those rings you can really mess up your scope, and then you are screwed. Good luck.

i wear presciption glass for shooting. the weaver i had on there is not bright enough and not clear when i'm using the 9th power.
and they no longer make this model anymore and selling it to a friend for $20.

the BSA scope is very clear and bright and it has 4" eye relief.
a lot of good review on this scope.

here is the spec on this scope:
                .36, .38, and .40 gr. compensation drum
                3-9X magnification
                40-millimeter objective lens diameter
                13-4.3-millimeter exit pupil range
42-20 field of view at 100 yards
                Four-inch optimum eye relief
                7.5-to-infinite parallax setting
                1/4 click adjustment value
                45-45 adjustment range
                16.8-ounce weight

Ive had good luck with BSA scopes, But Ive never seen a nub like that. in the instructions what do they say it is? I wouldnt take a file to any of my scopes. But I would try a higher ring. good luck with the compensation drums, Ive yet to see one that worked. I use the BSA because the settings are repeteable, the scope is clear, and cheap. I use mine on a ground squirrel gun. Its mostly shot in bright daylight conditions. In bright sunny conditions it compares well with my higher end scopes. Where it doesnt measure up in in low light, at dawn or dusk. just my 2cents. DR

That tumor on your scope is weird...

I'd just get a higher set of rings instead of grinding it off. Or get a different base that doesn't have that continuous piece.

i have the larger version of that scope and the notch wasnt an issue for me. take your gun to your local gun shop and ask them to help set you up! thats what i always do and im always happy with the results. now my scope sits nice and close to the barrel, i can get behind the scope easily, and i get a good cheek weld.
