My uncle has a Savage in 22mag, it's a nice rifle. It can shoot past 200 yards pretty easily. I have a Remington 597 22lr that is accurate at 100 yards, I've never tried anything farther. I also have another rem 597 in 17hmr, that one will hit a gopher at 300 yards, and you could get a little more range and accuracy out of a bolt action. If you are gonna pay for the expensive ammo, you might as well get the .17, I've never had a problem finding ammo and it's a lot of fun to shoot.Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Here is my 93FVSS w/Weaver V16. It is very accurate, but not quite as accurate as my .17hmr's. It has a fabulous trigger. The .17's have a somewhat flatter trajectory, but cost a bunch more. I think the 22wmr may be better on yote sized varmints, but others may disagree. It suits my needs and I'm happy I have it.

That savage is nice, my uncle's rifle is exacly like that, minus the bipod. Here's a pick of my Remingtons, the black one is the 17hmr, grey and stainless is 22lr
