    SR-22 -- California Legal?

    .
Ruger has just released their AR-15 like version of their 10/22, called the SR-22. Looks neat, and handles like a full sized AR-15. Perfect for low buck training.

But.... it's has a pistol grip, with a flash hider, and it's black. <Shudder> Our legislators are probably wetting themselves right now.

Any idea if this can be sold in the Grate State of California?

Rimfire rifles are exempt from the AW features ban, except for the min 26 inch over all length requirement and the named AW's.

Rimfires are excluded from the "evil feature ban", meaning rimfires can have all the "evil" features one desires. It will only be imported in CA if Ruger decides to submit it to CA and pay the fees associated with putting a new weapon on the DOJ list.

Looks like a nordic components ar 22 kit

You know It looks like a 10/22 with a Nordic components ar 22 kit on it. It is a bolt on kit where you drop your 10/22 in. I did a ppt for it not too long ago at Ft. Courage and did not have any problem transfering the rifle as it was just a kit. Depending on the price it may be cheaper to build your own. here are pictures of mine.

I certainly hope they would be approved in California, you get the ultra reliable 10/22 in platform that trains you for your ar. If it is less expensive that would be a plus too. the Nordic Components kit is 200 bucks alone, then you have to buy the forearm, the stock, the pistol grip, etc. plus you need your own 10/22 so you can imagine would the cost would be like.

According to the Ruger website the retail price for this is $625.00. Curious to see how much it will sell for at Turners, etc.

I can't see Ruger not paying for fees to allow sale in Cali.

If the Ruger AR is illegal, then I'm screwed with my Colt .22!

Most places online sale this gun around $450-500. So Turners price should be in the $500s range.

There are no fees involved. It's not a handgun. It's just a CA-legal rifle. Period.
