Where Precision Meets Quality - OpticAuthorityTags: None -
I do not have first hand experience with this reticle. I do, however, see BDCs as problematic.
Depending on the conditions with which it is calibrated, what happens when you change your Density Altitude? Your POI will change.
Example:
A 175gr SMK at 2650FPS at sea level and 70F will drop 4.6 MILS at 600 yards. Lets assume thats the factory BDC calibration.
That same bullet fired in the CA high desert at 3000 FT above sea level and 95F will drop 4.3 mils. or a 6.5 inch change of impact.
Go on a hunt to colorado at 7000 FT above sea level and 75 F the bullet will drop 4.1 MILS or roughly an 11 inch POI change from sea level. Thats a missed shot on a hunt. -
For most hunters I find them to work great. If you’re an experienced long-range shooting they may hold you back a little. I have used one and it will do the job even if you’re looking for extreme precision you just need to use the turret for fine tuning your shot.
