    The Lightest Quad Rails

The topic of quad rails has been touched on many times over the years, so I'll make this brief. There are many factors to consider when choosing a quad rail. Perhaps one of the most important factors is weight. I want to be clear that my sole purpose for this discussion is relative to the weight of 9" (mid-length) free float quad rails only! Needless to say, its difficult to find a lightweight quad rail at a great price.

In my opinion, most people don't give Midwest Industries (MI) enough credit. I've read and heard good things about them, but I see a plethora about other big brand names. After some research, I determined that Seekin's 9" SAR is currently the lightest quad rail on the market coming in at 9.3oz with hardware/barrel nut (if there's a lighter 9" quad rail, please let me know). To my surprise, that's only 1.8oz lighter than Midwest industries 9" gen2 T-Series quad rail, which comes in at 11.1oz with hardware/barrel nut.

This brings me to my final point... the cost. You can find the Seekins 9" SAR for approximately $200 (give or take), and the MI 9" Gen 2 T-Series for approximately $140 (give or take). On average, that's a 30% difference in cost! Furthermore, I presume it's safe to say that MI's modular and keymod rails are also lighter than most of the competition. I've recently compared the weight's of MI's keymod rail to other big brand name's and I'm impressed with the weights. I don't want to spend too much time on this so I'll leave it up to you to determine the rest. Lastly, it's important for you to know that when you're looking at the weight's of any rail, keep in mind that some don't include the weight of the barrel nut and/or mounting hardware.
