Vortex Strike Fire - durability / shelf life? Thoughts?

Note - I performed a search and couldn't find much here on CGN so apologies if this is, in fact, a duplicate?

Looking to see from current / prior Vortex Strike Fire owners:

    1) Durability - how did / does it hold up for you?
    2) Shelf life - how long have you utilized one?
    3) Overall satisfaction?

Anyhow - I've held one, shot an AR with one mounted & I'm sold this far. The resounding majority of purchaser reviews seem positive as well.

Mainly looking to see if Anyone else uses it for hunting & what not. I've got a 99$ tru-glo red dot that has served well & killed lots of prairie dogs, rabbits & a few coyotes. Needless to say, it's time to retire the cheap-o and get something a *little* better on my budget

Great. Thanks primary arms. What kind of mount does it come with or does it come with different sizes? I want one for my AR but it looks like the Mount seems a little tall. Thanks

The Strikefire is very durable and I really like the optic caps (holds super tight). Not saying anything bad Dimitri (PA), but the glass on the Vortex seems quite a bit clearer than the PA red dot. Good eye relief, and yes, the 2x mag it comes with sucks . . . kinda like looking thru a tunnel. I really like the red/green quick switch, if you happen to go to darker to lighter conditions and visa versa. The windage and elevation adjustments are easy and have protective caps once zeroed. I use a cantilever mount with a Flip to side PA magnifier. I also have a PA multi-reticle, which I really like the reticle feature when shooting at different things. I put the PA on my son's 10/22. The Vortex is a good purchase. My ultimate preference is my Eotech, but the Strikefire is a close second.

I've had mine for over a year with no complaints. Seems pretty durable and it comes with a lifetime warranty even if accidently broken

Delta, et al - thanks for the feedback. Dimitri I appreciate the offer, although I won't listen that intently to a vendor's reviews... Of a product he sells - LOL - I believe you, they do rock.

                  Order has been made!!!

I ran one on my saiga. It held zero and always worked great. I didnt like the on/off switch. At this point i prefer my bushnell trs 25. I have 2. Great price, battery life, durability and size.

I was able to fix the caps issue by replacing them with Butler Creek caps.
                      Yup forgot about the caps.

I really like my strikefire and haven't had any problems with it. The negatives have already been pointed out so I will just talk to the durability I have experience with mine which as been excellent.

It has seen around 500rounds of 223 on an AR, 1000rnds on an ak using an ultimak mount, and 300 of 308 on a ptr91. Still holds a zero and doesn't turn off while shooting like some of the cheaper red dots sometimes do. Plus it got dropped once from at least 4 feet when I was swapping it out and didn't seem to cause any problems.

I have two - and really like 'em... the caps are durable, but as others have stated, they don't closed tightly (one is worse than the other on mine), but it's a minor issue.

The unit itself is very solid/rugged, glass is clear... I'm used to the controls (same as SPARK, which I've had for a while) but I agree with previous comment, it can be inadvertently turned on (while placing in safe or in bag, etc)...

Minor issues aside, the Srikefire is one of my favorite RDS (others in use are SPARC, Aimpoint Pro, Bushnell Zoom Dot, Burris XTS135 and Burris FFIII).

I haven't heard/read any excessive negatives in my research of this RDS... If you like this style (I do), then I'm certain the Strikefire will serve you well.

i use a sparc but for what its worth i feel like my sparc is about 90% of an aimpoint pro at 50% of the price.

My StrikeFire has survived 150 rounds of .45-70 on a Marlin 1895 SBL with no problems or change in zero. I'm using a LaRue RAS II Q/D mount tho..
