Aimpoint mount ?

I want to get an Aimpoint ml3 for my AR with a ARMS sir rail. The rail is the #50 ( bi-level) I'm looking at this set up from LaRue:

which mount do I need to be able to co-witness the irons?

You need the lowest one you can get.
ARMs has one that will allow the co-witness. I am unsure if la Rue makes a very low 30mm mount or not.

That is the one for a proper co-witness using a ARMs product.

Do you really want 100% cowitnessing or do you want it in the lower 1/3 of the window? The preferred method is lower 1/3.

Any other mount he goes with will be too tall generally.
The issue with the ARMs SIR would be it raises the mounting purchase as it is.
So, he starts with an elevated platform to attach his reddot already.
He needs a low mount since he is already on a elevated rail.
Most of the common 30mm reddot mounts are designed to be attached to the top of the reciever which have not had the additional height of the ARMs platform.
He may be limited to where the opens actually do become visible through the reddot.
Regardless, back up sights are just that.. Back up. If his battery is dead, then does it really matter where in the glass he picks up the opens? Just as long as he can?
