    Astigmatism with bigger dot

I know this happens a lot to people with red dots. has anyone else noticed that when focusing directly at the dot the astigmatism is apparent, but when you focus on the aimed object its a perfectly round dot? I just bought a rn07 with the 6.5 moa and noticed this. I have 20/20 vision and don't need glasses. I never notice the affect when I was using 3.5 dots and smaller.

Or is it that i was using the dot incorrectly all this time? How do you guys focus on the dot.?

I thought you were supposed to focus on the target when using a dot?

I do but I never notice the astigmatism with smaller dots when focused on the dot before. Thought it was just unusual plus im ocd and it kinda bothers and cant get my mind off of it.

I USED to run a Trijicon RX-30, which was a GREAT optic... but the bloom on that 6.5 moa dot covered the target at a 100 yards!

MY solution? Was to run 2moa Aimpoints... which I have ever since.

Maybe you should explain what you're actually seeing. I don't think you know what astigmatism is. Assuming your optometrist has checked for and not found astigmatism in your vision, it's not something you would "notice" sometimes when looking at stuff. It is a condition with the shape of our eyeballs/lenses, and if you have it, that would affect your vision 100% of the time.

Regarding red-dots, if you do actually have astigmatism, the only solution is to wear corrective lenses to reduce the effect. Or, on some weapons, flip up a rear aperture sight and look through the circle at the red dot. But this only works if the iron sights are absolute co-witnessed with the red-dot.
