    Primary Arms Scope Question

I am usually an Aimpoint guy, but I want to try my first fixed or variable power scope.

I love the idea of the Primary Arms ACSS reticule.

Does anyone have thoughts/hands on experience with the following:

    3x fixed with ACSS
    1x6 variable with ACSS
1x8 platinum series variable with ACSS

At the worst I will buy the two cheaper models to try out but wanted to ask prior to doing so.

The scope will go on a Daniel Defense V11

    Thanks all!

i would say it depends on what you want to do.

I have the 1-6 ACSS and i love it. it is the middle ground scope in terms of range.

the 3X would be good for less than 200 yards, 6X is nice for 200-400 yards, and the 8X is nice for long distance shooting.

So what are you going to be doing with the rifle? I dont usually go beyond 200 yards, so the 1-6 works for me.

Agreed. I am thinking for my needs the 3x or 1x6 is perfect. My needs are occasionally stretching to 200 or so but I wanted the ability to see things vs all of my Aimpoints with no magnification

How does the scope hold up with use and which mount did you pick? I will be banging mine around in classes and such

I have the 1-6 ACSS it's a good scope, I don't like how heavy it is. I want to go back to red dot.

That is interesting. I'm a Aimpoint Pro and H1T1 person. That said I see the appeal of a magnification for checking things out at a distance.

Where are you located? Maybe we can trade..lol

I have the 1X6 on a 300 black out and it works great....Shots are in the 50-200 yard range.

the 1-6 is heavy, i use it on a heavier upper with heavier barrel. i have a light upper with a red dot for competitions that shoot at silhouettes. a red dot or 3X acog will handle silhouette size target at 200 and be lighter if that what your going to be doing

There is a 2.5x fixed with ACSS on my AR15. Shooting my own loads it did just fine at the 4/9/16 Mid-Range Clinic at Sac Valley. Got good hits on the silhouette at anywhere from 300 to 600 yds. Also, it rained most of the day and I had no fogging issues.

Out of all the choices you listed OP, I would pick the 1-6x option.

I've been shooting with 1-4x and 1-6x low power variable scopes for a long time, not a PA 1-6, but others... I have also owned RDS optics and a TA31F ACOG...

The overall versatility of the 1-4 and 1-6 was pretty much the main selling point for me. Its very easy to adapt a scope like this for more than 1 application so you should give some serious consideration into what type of shooting you personally like to do the before selecting a scope.

I had the first PA 6x (fixed) ACSS scope. It's a great reticle they even offer it in ACOG's now. Similar to the vortex etched low powered scopes.

Yeah I love the idea of the ACSS reticule. I shot one and it was so easy for adjustments
