    vepr scope

Anyone here has experience with this. Your feedback is appreciated
POSP 8x42 D Pro Focus Mil-dot Scope Weaver Mount.

I would go with the side mount again but I'm not a fan of the offset

These are nice scopes - ProStaff that is; not the Prostate.

how would you mount it? top cover scope mounts dont really hold zero..there is a Russian mount that centers over the bore that would work..

Excellent scope, very clear optics and turrets have crisp clicks that are more precise vs standard. Adjustable eyepiece is also a good feature. I'd say it's worth every penny and then some, you have to know how to set your turrets to your preferred zero (which is not complicated).
What caliber VEPR? If it's 54R I'd prefer it's native reticle (Druganov BDC) especially in barrel over 20".
This scope being a mil dot reticle and weaver mount seems as it was mainly intended for western type rifles. I'd prefer side mount, with weaver mount it might need even more of a adjustable cheek riser as it would sit higher vs AK mount. Low profile weaver mounts should work but I like these scopes slightly offset vs directly over the bore/receiver as it's much more natural and easier to use.

Offset is great, I have a pso 6x36 on my saiga 308 and it's BA. I like the posp/pso over the one you pictured because the mount and the scope is a solid piece that won't come loose, plus you can comfortably use your irons as back up.

Unless you're running a tws or something similar

I've tested a few of those.....take a look at the picture in the AK optic thread on the first page (toward the bottom).
Unless they change their measurements they all sit to the right (not over the center) even rub on the dust covers, being this type of scope and it's mount, talk about severe goose necking.

                      It's all about your preference.
Variable is better for several obvious reasons but fixed is tad lighter and less likely to brake 100 years down the road.... If I had to get only one, I'd get variable but I prefer 1.5 or 2.5 on the starting x.
