    Chest Rigs

I'm looking for a chest rig that is on the minimalish side.

4 AR-15 mags, a light, a knife, and maybe a glow stick and a small pad of paper and a pen.

I kind of like the Condor Rapid Assault but I don't really need or want the 6 built in mag holders. Something like that with 4 mag holders and the rest molle would work good.

Budget is less than $100 if possible.

No, I'm not some taticool assault dude or anything like that. I just want something to store in the case with my rifle and if the "never going to happen" happens then at least I have something ready to go.

I don't really know a heck of a lot about these things.

carries like a small rig but more flex to add IFAK, ammo, etc.

I have to add that a chest rig is faster but gets hot/heavy/uncomfortable. I have used this pack in a course and it is slower pulling mags but was great in that you can put it where you want it and even take it off quickly.

I have one like this, Condor mcr5.

It has open pouches for mags, flapped pouches that you can put other stuff in, like a radio, and pistol mag pouches that are good for a light, etc. I keep my silencer in a molle-attached pouch. There isn't a ton of molle space, but it's getting heavy as is. Even if I did have 6 more molle things to hang on it I probably wouldn't.

I got one of these for the same reason as you, just in case.
I added another single AR mag pouch and a double pistol mag pouch.
Hides pretty well under a loose jacket.

              $120 with standard straps

Here's a couple of other rigs I was considering

HSGI AO Chest Rig is a good one too. Used one for a few years. Was very compact and slim enough to wear under a jacket as well.

have you looked at Tactical tailor fight light mini mav. you can add molle pouches as needed. i have one with two rifle and two pistol.

Tactical Tailor is a manufacturer of the highest quality, combat proven tactical nylon products. Using innovation to provide the most up to date gear for any application. Our production facility houses state of the art equipment, and expert staff that develop and manufacture the finest American made gear.

or if you don't mind spending a little bit more you can build a ferro concepts rig or a spiritus rig with their placard and shoulder and back strap.

I recently changed over to this setup. it's lighter and slimmer than my tactical tailor setup. you can build it up or keep it simple as well.

Nice chest rigs posted by all.

                        Q?
How the hell do you shoot prone wearing one that has all the mags stacked over your belly? Seems that if you have to go to ground in a hurry you'd gut punch yourself.

*no. I have no 4 mos preggo looking belly and prone is my preferred long range shooting method. I'm no longer high speed, but I am low drag.

You get the mayflower UW gen V. it has a zipper in the middle to unzip and separate and is still buckled just looser so you can get it out of the way. I love this thing. I added the haley strategic micro mag inserts to it because I prefer the Kydex retention. They fit it perfect but there's nothing wrong with the ones it comes with, you can remove the bungess too if you don't want them there.

The UW GEN V Split-Front Chest Rig is a multi-purpose chest rig capable of carrying 5.56, 7.62x51, 7.62x39 magazines by using a system of easily changed inserts. The chest rig features two radio/general purpose pouches that will accommodate several types of radios including (but not limited to) PRC-148, PRC-152, Motorola…

The Ferro stuff will use either hook and loop or hanging steel molle hooks that slide... like the TEAR front flap... I have one on a Slickster and it is fairly easy to get out of the way... you have to peel the velcro and flip it up on the hooks to open or close the rig. I'd probably get the TEAR or KTAR over a Turnover (velcro only) on a Chesty... but I do not have one... On a Slickster, either the Turnover or TEAR work fine. Turnover is like half the price IIRC... not as much retention.

Is there a reason you want a chest rig rather than a carrier?
