        That's really nice wood. I need oil mine some more to get mine to look like that. Apparently, the CMP throws on 2 coats of BLO. But, I want that rich chocolaty look.

        I already have a WWII vintage 1.38M (Feb 1943) Service Grade in the safe with plenty of character.

        I wanted the yang to the ying... a post-Korean war, high serial number, cleaned up example... and the CMP Special perfectly fit the bill.

            This is mine, but it's no CMP Special...

            I happen to like my rifle quite a bit... My late 6 mil SA might actually be a NM rifle, according to how the CMP sells them. If so, they let one get out for a song... It does have a LOT of NM parts on it.

                The same, BLO... 1 coat every 12-24 hours for about a week... ~7-8 coats.
