    CE 44 k98 east german?

Hello everyone I was at the ventura county gun show this past weekend looking for milsurp rifles and found this J.P. Sauer & Sohn 44 dated k98 for only $425!! Another collector walked by and told me its also an east german k98. Can anyone else tell by the photos that it might be an east german k98? Im thinking I got a deal on this rifle.
    Thanks

Your pictures aren't clear, or close enough to really tell.

But the East Germans used various different proofs. The pics below are some of them.

"Crown" over "B,U,G or N" were East Germans proofs, as well as the boxed proofs on the wood as in the pic below.

At $425 you got a pretty solid deal, whether it's East German, Russian Capture or mismatched pre-1968 import stamp.

Really the only German K98's at that price are bubba rifles, and even those are becoming scarce as wise guys are working out how to restore them to issue.
