Selling a very rare and scarce U.S. Contract Winchester 1895 Lever Action Musket chambered in 30 Army or 30/40 Krag. 4 digit serial number, made in 1898. One of few surviving examples that was part of an order by the US Ordnance Dept for use in the Spanish American War/ Philippine Insurrection. Many of these rifles saw hard use in central & south America as well as during the Pancho Villa Expedition. This example has the correct US stamp on the receiver as well as inspector stamps on the buttplate & lever. This rifle was confirmed legitimate by a reputable expert on the 1895 rifle.
This rifle is in good working order but has seen hard use in its life. Finish is mostly gone and there is some pitting throughout. Wood stocks are also worn & top half of the handguard is missing however the stock is overall intact. Bore is surprisingly good with strong rifling lines present. The action still feels strong and would be a fun shooter. These rifles dont come up very often.. Here is a chance to own a true piece of history!
